Replaces a snow shovel head which had worn away. No need to replace the wooden stale.
purchased as a snow shovel it is brilliant for general leaf clearing also. easy to fit to the handle it feels excellent to use and has proved a very good product so far, Very pleased.
Arrived quickly and was well packaged. The shovel head seems to be made of good quality plastic. I bought a snow shovel with a similar head about ten years ago and have used it for, snow, gravel, and sand. Here's hoping this snow shovel head lasts the same amount of time.
Strong shovel
Finally had time to use it when it suddenly snowed. It outperformed the one my wife got from tesco, much cheaper but not the same quality. It was only marked down on value for money based on how many times i will use it.
Overall, the product is a bit lightweight and the shovel itself is quite a bit smaller than it looks on the picture. its light weight makes it easy to use and it is ok for clearing a driveway or front path of a few inches of snow. if you get up to scottish proportions (say over a foot) then this is not going to be man enough for you. i didn't have the problems of handle fitting that other reviewers have had, but i did have to add a grub screw to hold it firmly.
Overall the shovel was good, however the handle did not fit into the shovel itself without about an hour of whittling down etc.
As this was a snow shovel and we have had no snow, the performance and reliability are untested. However my neighbour, for whom i bought the second one, and i think we have found the perfect tool for the next snowfall. the only criticism i have is that for someone without a tame handyman it would be a godsend if the handle could arrive attached. I spent a long time with sandpaper getting the end of the handle to fit the socket, then finding screws.
The end of the handle had to be pared back to fit the shovel enough for both screws to be used. This was a fiddly operation. no snow to try it on yet, so "performance" above is really a hope!
Bought this as i had used my neighbours during the december snows, it was very good, so much easier than with a heavy metal shovel.
Purchased the snow shovel for my husband who was pleased with it when it was unpacked. unfortunately, or rather fortunately, we have not been able to test it because we have had no more snow, thank goodness. so we have given it only 3 for performance as we havent been able to use it.
Clears / shovels snow well. Lightweight => less fatigue. Handle could do with being about a foot (300mm) longer.
It does what it is supposed to do! the good long handle makes it easy to use for different height adults and it is robust enough to withstand chipping at ice as well as shifting snow! front edge is now a little worn after use on our rough concrete, but i'm sure it'll do a few more seasons yet. fantastic for the price.
Arrived a day before the snow arrived and it has been invaluable ever since. Just what i needed at exactly the right time. The neighbours have made use of it. works a treat!
My husband was sceptical when i bought this... And then it snowed !! He was amazed at light but efficient it is . Snow clearing just got a whole lot easier , thankyou
Arrived on 2 days and has seen a great deal of use in the current snow. Works a treat. Good dimensions, light and copes with ice
Wish i had invested in one of these years ago. Has seen plenty of use and have experienced no problems. Makes short work of shifting new snow.
Once i got it,it works like a dream wise choice good value cant go wrong
We bought two some weeks ago - before the big snowfall! they work fine for path clearing, but we had not anticipated our church kids also using them to build snow structures...
The shovel is not as big as you might think from the picture, but its ok for light work (like clearing your drive). the handle needs to be fixed to the shaft; there's nothing supplied for this, just push the shaft into the shovel, so you need to drill a small hole in the shovel's socket and a pilot into the shaft, then put a short screw in to hold it in place. it's light and easy to use. overall, can't complain for the money, but would have liked a bigger, stronger shovel for when it gets heavy and slushy.
