Ashmead’s Kernel - Eating Apple Tree Ashmead’s Kernel - Eating Apple Tree

Crops in: December - February
Availability: Pre-Order
Dispatched: From late October

Description: Wonderful 300 year old English variety originating in Gloucestershire in 1700. Small in size but with a rich aromatic flavour and most attractive blossom. Keeps right through to the end of winter.

Planting distance: 4m (13ft)

Pollination: Group 5. Each variety has ideal pollinators. These groups are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 according to flowering time. Best results will be obtained if this variety is planted near another apple of the same group or one
group either side (so an ideal pollinator for a group 4 variety is one in group 3, 4 or 5).

In normal suburban planting, however, apples are usually planted in sufficient numbers to give adequate pollination.

Rootstock: MM106 Semi vigorous, Approximate height 4-5 metres when mature
