The Linear armchair is far lighter than more traditional teak designs well-suited for use in the modern outdoor "room". The high oil content of the teak wood used in Barlow Tyrie furniture enables it to withstand the harshest weather conditions with the minimum of maintenance. Barlow Tyrie is a family-owned business originating in the 1920s. It’s now into its third generation – and the world’s oldest manufacturer of teak outdoor furniture. They use only the highest grade of teak, marine-quality solid brass and stainless steel fittings to ensure its products last a lifetime. In 1992 they established a separate company in Indonesia to ensure a continuing source of teak from environmentally sound plantations on Java. The timber is then shipped to their factory in Braintree, where the furniture is assembled and finished
