Gaultheria in 17cm Pot

Supplied in a 17cm pot. Your Gaultheria plant will arrive pre-planted in a 17cm pot and packed in specially designed protective packaging to ensure it's in top condition when you receive it. All you need to do is remove it from the box, give it a good dose of water and leave it to 'rest' for 1-2 days in a sheltered spot. Carefully remove from pot before planting and make sure the hole is deep and wide enough to fit the entire root ball without bending or breaking the roots. Water-in after planting. Gaultheria is a fascinating spreading shrub with wonderful glossy ornamental berries in winter. This handsome spreading low shrub will reach up to 50cm (20 in) height. It has suckers and will spread gently. In late spring, soft-pink, bell-shaped flowers appear in large, quite ornamental, clusters beneath the branches. The flowers come from brown calyces and the overall effect of the free flowering shrub is subtle and attractive. Clusters of red-purple fruit follow. The dense evergreen foliage forms a carpet of green with red tinted foliage. Fully frost hardy. Grows in acid/ericaceous soil. If you don't have acid soil in your garden, Gaultheria makes an attractive and unusual patio plant and is happy planted in a container in ericaceous compost.
