Supplied in a 17cm pot. Your Ilex plant will arrive pre-planted in a 17cm pot and packed in specially designed protective packaging to ensure it's in top condition when you receive it. All you need to do is remove it from the box, give it a good dose of water and leave to 'rest' for 1-2 days in a sheltered spot. Carefully remove from pot before planting and make sure the hole is deep and wide enough to fit the entire root ball without bending or breaking the roots. Water-in after planting. Blue Angel is a female variety that should produce a good crop of berries if grown in close proximity to a male holly. It is grown primarily for its dark purple stems and purplish foliage. It forms a large slow growing shrub. Like all common holly varieties, it is a robust plant that's ideal for hedges and screens, both inland and by the sea, but also makes a good specimen shrub. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it their prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM) in recognition of its outstanding excellence. Can grow up to 10 metres tall and 4 metres wide or can be contained as a shrub with regular pruning. Ilex grows happily in any garden in the UK. This non-fussy species grows in any soil, sun or shade and its attractive berries make it a useful resource at Christmas for table decorations, bouquets and wreaths. This is a female variet, plant with 'Blue Prince' to encourage the best berry growth.
