A hardy perennial often used as a half hardy annual they should be sown from February to March or June to September. Sow seeds on the surface of a good free-draining and damp seed compost then apply a fine sprinkling of vermiculite just covering the seed.
Place container in a propagator or seal inside a polythene bag and place at a warm temperature of 15-20C until after germination (usually 10-15 days).Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm pots.
Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out 15cm apart. Flowers summer or autumn/spring if sown June-September at a height of 15-20cm.
