Wooden Mason Bee Box Nester Wooden Mason Bee Box Nester

Specifically designed to attract non-swarming bees such as the Red Mason and Orchard Bee, this Bee Box will help attract them to your garden. These bees are naturally attracted to holes in wood and this nester provides just that, an ideal habitat that has become harder to find in modern gardens. This nester features removable, variable sized inspection tubes for bees to lay their eggs in, with an adjustable wooden clamp that keeps the tubes packed tightly helping resist removal by woodpeckers. The bees will fill the tubes with mud of leaf cells from March to August and then emerge the following Spring. Unlike honeybees, Mason Bees are solitary, they produce no honey or beeswax and every female makes her own nest - there are no worker bees for this species! They are excellent spring season pollinators and, since they have no honey to defend, will only sting if attacked. Not only are they a beneficial garden addition as they pollinate the plants, but are also safe for children and pets to be around. This bee box is constructed from durable FSC timber and can be located in a variety of ways; on its base, hung from the rear hanger or with the rear hanger removed, screwed to a wall or fence so that its base is against it. Dimensions: 24 x 20 x 15.5cm high This box can be left out all winter
