Allium christophii, the Star of Persia has large orbs of small, star-shaped, lilac-purple flowers that appear in the summertime above a clump of narrow, greyish-green leaves. In the summer these spectacular spheres have a unique metallic theme. When the flowers finally fade, they work nicely in dried flower arrangements.
