Fragrant vanilla scented flower-heads in a heavenly shade of rose pink sit atop sturdy, tall stems. The swamp milkweed attracts crowds of butterflies and bees to its nectar rich blooms throughout summer. As autumn approaches the flowers are followed by long seed heads that split open to reveal seeds adorned with strands of silken white hairs. A fabulous hardy perennial for wildlife gardens with a long season of interest. As its name suggests, the swamp milkweed enjoys moist soil conditions, and grows well beside ponds and streams. The pretty blooms also make an unusual and striking cut flower. Height: 120cm (48”). Spread: 60cm (24”).
