Asclepias tuberosa - 3 bareroot plants Asclepias tuberosa - 3 bareroot plants

Showy and ostentatious, the tall hairy stems of Asclepias tuberosa are topped with clusters of vibrant orange blooms that sport backward sweeping sepals. The butterfly weed is aptly named, attracting crowds of butterflies and bees to its nectar rich blooms throughout summer. As autumn approaches the flowers are followed by long seed heads that split open to reveal seeds adorned with strands of silken white hairs. A fabulous hardy perennial for wildlife gardens with a long season of interest. The bright blooms also make an unusual and striking cut flower. Height: 90cm (35”). Spread: 30cm (12”)
