The Crataegus laevigata Paul s Scarlet is a popular thorny spreading deciduous tree, with midgreen three to five lobbed leaves. Branches are smothered with a profusion of double dark pink flowers in late spring which occupy the branches for a longer duration of time than most other flowering trees. These flowers are followed in early autumn by bright red berry fruits that attract a wide range of birds.
