Fig ‘Panachee has a long history and was mentioned in agrarian records as far back as 1668. This handsome variety is often called the ‘Tiger Fig’ for its unusual striped fruits with crimson, strawberry flavoured flesh. Producing only one crop per year, due to its requirement for a long warm growing season, Fig ‘Panachee’ is best grown in a container and moved to a greenhouse in winter to allow the fruits to ripen. The jammy textured fruits can be harvested from late September and are well worth the wait. Height: 3m (9’). Spread: 4m (13’).
