Our RHS Premium Ilex aquifolium Handsworth New Silver is a compact, dense, evergreen tree or shrub with purple young shoots.Its darkgreen, elliptic leaves are spined and broadly margined with white. In spring and summer it bears small, white flowers followed, in autumn, by brightred berries. It suits most soils and conditions. It will reach a height of 10m and a spread of 8m when mature.This Handsworth New Silver holly is a female variety, in order to produce berries, it is advised that a male plant is in a near vicinity to aid pollination. It is recommended that for every 5 female plants there is 1 male pollinator.
