Sow March to July every 4 weeks for continuous crops - sow thinly in drills 13mm deep in rows 30cm apart in well-prepared soil in full sun. Thin plants to 25cm apart and keep well watered for the most flavoursome hearts. This has good downy mildew tolerance and the hearts stand well without bolting (running to seed) if kept well watered. Harvest from June to September. These plants adapt well to variable weather conditions. To reveal perfect hearts just strip off outer leaves from older plants.
