Preferred common name: Osier Willow Our Royal Horticultural Society Osier Willow ( Salix viminalis ) is a large native, deciduous hedge with young shoots covered with sift grey downy hairs. Followed by catkins in spring and are generally crowded towards the tips of twigs. They are yellow, between 1.53cm long and 0.51cm wide and are densely flowered. The long tapering leaves appear after the flowers; they are covered underneath with silky hairs and thinly puberulous above.
