Quercus robur or Common Oak as its commonly known is a large deciduous tree forming a broad crown of rounded leaves which turn reddishbrown in autumn and inconspicuous yellowgreen catkins in spring followed by characteristic acorns. Plant in deep, fertile, welldrained soil, it will tolerate lime. It will reach a height of 15m and a spread of 12m after 2050 years. Ingestion may cause severe discomfort.
