Root Vegetable Seed Collection Root Vegetable Seed Collection

Root vegetables don't succeed well as plug plants, because they don't like having their roots constrained or disturbed. But they're very easy to grow from seed! Our collection comprises individual packets of 5 of our favourite varieties: Carrot Ideal - A super-fast-maturing Nantes type. Uniform, rich-orange, delicious- flavoured roots. Superb eaten whole or grated in salads. RHS Award of Garden Merit winner; Parsnip Gladiator - The long tapering, wedge-shaped roots with smooth white skin, have considerable canker resistance. Highly recommended for both the table and exhibition use. RHS Award of Garden Merit winner. Recommend by the National Institute of Agricultural Botany; Swede Invitation - A strong-growing, Club Root resistant swede which also benefits from powdery mildew resistance and improved winter hardiness over other swedes. Suitable for freezing; Turnip Atlantic - A quick-maturing, bolt resistant Purple Milan type, producing scrumptious, flat-topped white roots with purple crowns; Kohl Rabi Kolibri - An outstanding kohl rabi, producing a bountiful crop of tasty purple roots that hold well in the garden, without running to seed.
