The Sarracenia Alata is commonly known as the American Pitcher Plant and is a wonderful fly catcher. They produce creamy whiteyellow flowers in spring. The flowers are followed by pitchers which can grow between 3040 cms high (1215 inches). It is fully hardy and can be planted outside in the garden or inside a greenhouse or on a window sill. One important consideration is that Sarracenia s do not respond well to tap water, so it is recommended to use rain water.
