The Sarracenia Alata Areloata is commonly known as the American Pitcher Plant and is a wonderful fly catcher. They produce peachpink flowers in spring which are followed by tall pitchers, which have faint areoles in the rear of the neck. The pitchers can grow up to 6080 cms high (2430 inches). It is fully hardy and can be planted outside in the garden or inside a greenhouse or on a window sill. One important consideration is that Sarracenia s do not respond well to tap water, so it is recommended to use rain water.
