The Sarracenia Flava Maxima is commonly known as the American Pitcher Plant and is a wonderful fly catcher. They produce yellow flowers in spring which are followed by tall yellow pitchers. The pitchers can grow up to 90 cms high (36 inches). It is fully hardy and can be planted outside in the garden or inside a greenhouse or on a window sill. One important consideration is that Sarracenia s do not respond well to tap water, so it is recommended to use rain water.
