Power is sent to the 60cm double-sided blades via a highly-durable three-piece forged crankshaft which is encased in a robust magnesium housing. The blades themselves are made from high-grade German steel and have been counter-ground for long intervals between sharpening and a clean, precise cut (the generous 31mm tooth-spacing on this model makes it suitable for thicker growth). The Solo 161 weighs just 5.7kg and features highly-effective multi-point vibration damping, so operator-fatigue is kept to a minimum. Starting is made reliable and stress-free, thanks to the inclusion of a fuel-primer and an electronic ignition; while a seven-step rotating handle provides a suitable working angle for every eventuality.
