Common name: Sycamore Our Royal Horticultural Society Sycamore ( Acer pseudoplatanus ) is a fast growing native deciduous hedge, which is used either in a mixed hedge or as a single species hedge. It produces young foliage with tinged red, turning to green, then yellow in autumn, with 5 lobbed leaves; greenred in spring and summer and then a buttery yellow colour in autumn. Small greenyellow flowers develop in spring flowed by winged seeds in autumn. It makes an excellent dense hedge.RHS Sycamore is noted for its tolerance of wind, urban pollution and salt spray, which makes it a popular tree for planting in cities, along roads treated with salt in winter, and in coastal localities.It is suitable for any soil, in particular well drained or moist. It will grow in any position, in particular exposedwindy areas, dry shade or coastal areas. It should be timed to shaped at the beginning of winter.
