Atrovirens is an evergreen conifer with redbrown flaking bark. It has a conical habit and darkgreen, neat foliage that may become bronzetinted in winter. It is slower growing than leylandii and makes a very good hedge.Fast growing evergreen conifer with cinnamonred shredding bark and spreading branches. Bright glossy green leaves above, slightly grey beneath, and aromatic when crushed. Best on moist but not waterlogged soil but will tolerate shallow chalk soil.
